Can your doctor keep a secret?
Before you talk to your doctor, or nurse about sex, contraception, pregnancy or abortion you may be worried that he/she will tell your parents. Doctors and nurses follow a professional code of practice which makes sure that even if you are under 16 you have the same right to privacy and confidentiality as adults. This means they should not pass on any information about your visit unless they think you are in serious danger and even then they should discuss the issue with you first.
